Celebrations

I suppose that turning 5 is kind of a big deal, but we tried not to overdo it.  The week before his birthday, we had a party with our play group... friends we've been playing with weekly since Ryan was just a few months old.  What a blessing!

There were games...

Playing Mickey Scavenger Hunt

Sneaking in a little time on the iPhone

... plenty of time to play with friends...

Even Ethan had a friend to play with :)  Sweet boys who were born only 4 days apart!
....and, of course, CAKE!

Kaeden was at least as excited about the Mickey cake as Ryan :)

The downside of the Mickey cake - black faces!  They didn't seem to mind :)
Sleeping cousins (and matching SILs!)
On Ryan's actual birthday, he got to celebrate with his preschool friends during snack time.  He blew out the candles on the class' pretend cake, and then they had a special snack of sugar cookies with blue frosting and sprinkles (Ryan's choice).

That night, B. came over for dinner and we had a casual celebration with our family.  We were too distracted trying to free the snake that got caught in our garden net to remember to take any pictures.  Oh well!  Ryan was happy with his birthday dinner of hot dogs, french fries, and cucumbers!

Happy, happy 5 years old, big boy!
